Mother Mary Joseph Honored

Maryknoll, NY Mother Mary Joseph Rogers, MM, founder of Maryknoll Sisters of St. Dominic, has been named one of nine American women to be inducted in 2013 into the National Women’s Hall of Fame (NWHF), it was announced yesterday by the NWHF. Among other notable women to be inducted this year will be Betty Ford and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Wendy Au (Class of 72) exemplifying the Maryknoll spirit
Recognized nationally as one of Canada’s most prestigious awards for women, the YWCA Metro Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards honours women whose outstanding achievements contribute to the well-being and future of the community.
There are ten categories in this nomination award-with over 100 submissions received. Maryknoll alumnae Wendy Au, Assistant City Manager of City of Vancouver, was nominated in the category of “Non-profit and Public Service.” Wendy completed Lower Form Six Arts in 1973 before she immigrated to Vancouver Canada to continue her studies. Wendy was very active in her high school years. She was the assistant guider of the 19th Kowloon Girl Guides, House Captain of Amethyst House, Captain of School Netball team as well as a member of both the school swimming team and track team.

The Scarborough Fair
The bazaar on 5-5-2012 at Chester Villlage to raise funds for the Motherhouse in New York was a huge success, thanks to everyone who helped in the setting up and the many who came to support.

Sister Rose is still convalescing. She gets up twice a day to walk about 12 steps but does not have a lot of energy. Miriam Xavier is great with a sharp mind in tact. Ann CArol has just returned to the Center from Monrovia, Corinne is still serene and loving.
